John Herpy

2016

John serves as Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 1226, Webmaster for Pacifica District. He leads the Aviation & Aerospace committee of the National Boy Scout STEM Advisory Council, and is on the Information Technology committee of the council. Over a couple of decades, John has worked with and for youth in myriad ways. He has led the Webelos Camperall since 2005. The program he developed for Camperall became the seed for the formation of the non-profit Rainmaker Effect Corporation, whose mission is to "empower and equip youth and young adults with the skills, knowledge and tools to become effective leaders in their communities."

Previously, he has served as Webelos Den Leader of Pack 470 and Merit Badge Counselor. In addition to Scouting, John has served as president of the award-winning Parent Teacher Organization of Moffett Elementary School, coached for American Youth Soccer Organization and Little League baseball. He was presented with the District Award of Merit In 2011 and is a James E. West Fellow. He earned the Cub Scout Arrow-of-Light in 1974 and was a Scout in Troop 165 with his two brothers and his Scoutmaster dad.

John lives in Huntington Beach with his wife Mindy. Their son, Alexander, is an Eagle Scout and their daughter, Madeline, is a recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award.
