Alex Phethean

2015

Alex serves as the Council Committee Chair, Committee Member of Portola District and Advisor to the Executive Vice Chief of Wiatava Lodge, Order-of-the-Arrow. He has been on staff for two National Youth Leadership Training events, three National Leadership Seminars, two National Camp Schools, and the 2015 National Order-of-the-Arrow Conference.

Alex has worked at Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley for nine summers along with six of his siblings. He was a professional Scouter before becoming a teacher in the Anaheim School District for the past 18 years. At the age of nine while a Webelos, Alex was presented with the Medal of Merit for saving his brother’s life. He earned the Eagle Rank in 1987 and became an OA Vigil Member in 1988. In addition to Scouting, he served a two-year mission in the Dominican Republic for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Alex lives in Anaheim with his wife Antonia and their children Charles and Peter (both Life Scouts), Jasmine (Silver Award), and Sidney (Senior Brownie).
