Al Silva

2015

Al serves as Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 241, as Unit Commissioner in Canyons District, and OA Advisor of Koshare Chapter. His 50-year Scout journey began in Imperial Beach, CA in Cub Scout Pack 811, where his Mom was Den Mother. He received the Arrow of Light in 1965, continued in Troop 110, where he earned the Eagle Rank, and became a Vigil Member of Ashie Lodge in 1986.

His Scouting passion grew after attending the 1985 and 1989 National Jamborees with his father. In 1994, Al's father, a Silver Beaver recipient, passed away, and Al lost his passion for Scouting. He withdrew from most Scouting events for over 7 years. In 2001, Allen Michael Silva, Jr. brought home a join Cub Scouts flier. Al's passion for Scouting returned, sparked by his son's enthusiasm. Al has attended six National Jamborees, was a Jamboree Scoutmaster in 2010 and 2013 with his son, and is on the OCC Jamboree Committee for 2017. Between 1979 and 2015 he attended 15 NOACs and has also attended over 65 Order-of-the-Arrow Conclaves. He is a member of the Executive Board for the International Scouting Collectors Association.

Al lives in Orange with his wife Casey. They have two adult children Kelsey and Michael, an Eagle Scout with two palms.
