Daniel Chaney

2014

Dan presently serves as Scoutmaster of Troop 723 and on the District Committee in Portola District. In 2010, the hundredth anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, a float designed and decorated by Orange County, Los Angeles County, and San Gabriel Valley Council volunteers was featured in the Rose Parade. The over three hundred Eagle Scouts participating in the parade came from these councils.

Dan was the Scoutmaster for Orange County Council's 120 member ceremonial Rose Parade Troop 2010. He used his high school marching band and Air Force experience to lead the troop through practices with the other two councils' Scouts. They carried American and state flags, merit badge "shields", float award banners, and even Scouting gear, at the beginning, end, and throughout the parade. January 1 was also the inauguration of Adventure Base 100, a traveling Scouting extravaganza that visited 40 cities, ending in New York City at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Dan coordinated the volunteers that helped staff the Adventure Base 100 in Pasadena. It was an experience of a lifetime.

Dan lives in Placentia with his wife Shari, daughter Kristina and son Thomas (Life Scout). They have four adult children Jessica, Tonissa, Nikita and Joseph (Life Scout).
